The Jamaica 50 Secretariat
The Jamaica 50 Secretariat is an arm of the Ministry of Youth and Culture with a mandate to plan, organize and execute the events to celebrate Jamaica’s Golden Jubilee.
The Secretariat is headed by a Project Director and is supported by a Director of Administration and a Director of Events. There is also a support and contracted staff to include Licensing and Merchandise; Finance & Accounting, Communications, Public & Media Relations.
In an effort to fulfill its mandate of planning and organizing events to commemorate this milestone in our Nations’ history, the Secretariat works closely with all areas of Government, the Private Sector as well as a number of Non-Government Organizations.
One such entity of Government that is to be highlighted is the Jamaica Cultural Development Corporation (JCDC), an organization that on an annual basis plans all events around our Emancipation and Independence. But our work does not rest there we are continually seek and developing partnerships with corporate Jamaica as we endeavor to accomplish our mandate. The relationships and alliance that we are forging with corporate Jamaica will ensure that the Mission is accomplished.
